Introducing a Speaker

Introducing a speaker means that you are shining the spotlight on someone else – this is not the time to tell the audience how great you are since (for example) you went to school with the speaker.

This is what you have to do:

  1. Explain to the audience the importance of the topic to them – the audience.
  2. Name the speaker (Note: correct name and correct pronunciation. You do not want the speaker to come on stage and tell the audience that her name and the way it was pronounced was incorrect.).
  3. Explain to the audience why this particular speaker was chosen to speak on the given topic (for example, he has earned a PHD on this particular topic and therefore is an expert.)
